We're in... Yay...

Received minutes ago by e-mail from the NY council:
"Dear Sir,
Your file is ready to be finalized. A letter will be mailed shortly to request your original passport and photo to enable us to complete the processing. If you are being represented by a lawyer/consultant and you intend to pick-up or directly mail the permanent residence visas to you, we require a no objection letter from your lawyer/consultant stating it is okay to release the permanent residence visas.

Thank you for your interest in Canada ."

Oh no, thank you Canada!

FYI- Last week I e-mailed the consulate asking about the status of the file not changing in E-Cas. Daniel and Bob you might want to try e-mailing your consulate as well. It took almost a week to get the response we just received but it was worth it!

That's the best news I've heard all day, and then some!!

You two must be on Cloud 9!! Yay, Canada.

So now it's a "race" to see which of us is the last group out of the "family" to get the OK. No matter, it will be worth it!

Go out and celebrate tonight, and thanks for the tip. I might suggest that to our attorney . . . .

Thanks everyone. It's a huge relief for us. I hope we get the official letter soon, I want to plan our next trip home to Toronto. The support you all have given us during this journey is so heart warming.

Special Note for Tim & Antonio, welcome. If you are a binational couple, please apply for Canada now. Don't waste time like we did.

Congratulations!!! This is wonderful news.

Don't be surprised if the next little while is full of excitement and happiness, but also anxiety and indecision. It doesn't mean you're doing the wrong thing--it just means you're human. :-)

We are overwhelmed at the moment. So much is happening this week. The Dept of Justice appeal of the asylum, our e-mail form the consulate and trying to sell the house. Plus there are some issues with my job transfer.

All the warm responses are are much needed. Thank you so much.

Smart woman, that I/P. This is very true, and good to keep in mind.

I admit last weekend I even waffled a bit, we had fun with friends and family and I just wanted it all to go away. Then the consulate e-mail came and I got excited, then we got a copy of the Dept of Justice appeal and I got mad and knew for certain we need to make Canada our home.

People are looking at the house today, keep your fingers crossed!

That's is GREAT! I came across this blog thanks to L Girl's WMTC and I have found it very much inspirational. My boyfriend and I will be applying next January after 6 years of anguish and frustration. We hope to be in the GTA by January 2009! I cannot wait! The ol' U. S of A forgot about the BASIC rights for its citizen so we are OUT.

Wow. I guess I didn't realize how far behind I am in my reading. I feel like such a schmuck. Anyway, very late, but no less heartfelt, congratulations! You guys just really humble me. I mean, for us it's a choice, for you guys it's survival. The stress you've been under, the injustice you've received in the U.S. I am so angry at the U.S. government. And I am so happy that Canada is welcoming you -- as a couple. I wish you the absolute best in all things. You are deserving of so much. You've been in our thoughts and will continue to be as you take the next great steps.
